Oaklake Search have been exclusively retained by a leading senior living operator to search for a Regional Vice President of Operations to oversee their operations across the state of Texas.

JOB SUMMARY: The Regional Vice President of Operations (RVPO) is responsible for directing the overall daily operations of multiple senior living residence communities in an assigned geographic area to ensure the highest quality operation in accordance with company standards. The RVPO will develop and deliver best practices to ensure achievement of all business goals for assigned communities. In addition, both resident and team member engagement surveys will remain above industry standards and provide a great place to live and a great place to work for the companies residents and team members.

ORGANIZATIONAL AND REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer (COO). Directs the work of and provides regular supervision of the executive directors.

• General Leadership
o Direct, lead and supervise assigned executive directors on operational process improvement and quality assurance in all facets of community operations.
o Provide regular on-site support, leadership, and guidance to assigned communities.
o Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOP’s) to improve processes and systems to accommodate the business objectives of the company.
o Support the initiatives of the Chief Operations Officer to ensure operating objectives meet or exceed the goals of the organization.
o Develop and manage enterprise-wide operations program services and systems.
o Serve as a leader and program contributor to the company culture program.
o Conduct regular regional operational meetings with assigned regional resources and community leaders. Participates in senior leadership meetings for the enterprise.
o Monitor the critical financial, business and service deliverables on a regular basis, and ensures corrective action plans are in place to remain in compliance.
o Support the executive director’s annual strategic planning sessions which will consistently exceed expectations.
o Ensure each community attracts, recruits, hires, develops and retains key leadership and management teams throughout the region. Build and support a collaborative culture.
o Communicate performance standards to executive directors and conducts regular performance assessments by establishing clear goals and expectations and utilizing strong performance standards, learning and development opportunities, and programs that reward high performance.
o Evaluate regional team member engagement surveys results to drive consistent improvements ensuring the company is a great place work. Provide guidance and direction on key improvement opportunities.
o Coach and direct team development to foster leadership and professional growth for the community leadership teams and the assigned regional team.
o Evaluate regional community resident engagement surveys to ensure resident engagement is at the highest level and consistently exceed industry benchmarks. Use survey data to design and lead continuous improvement opportunities while continuously considering on-going resident feedback to confirm and adopt best practices.
o Develop positive professional relationship with residents, resident family members, team members, professional organizations, community groups, and other appropriate entities within the assigned region.
o Lead conflict resolution where appropriate and continue to build positive resident relations for the company and provide leadership and support for the activities and programs of the home office.
o Maintain and cultivate a positive relationship with residents through regular individual and group interaction, with a particular focus on the resident governance associations and councils for each assigned community.
o Evaluate each regional community’s assets participate in strategic planning to develop master plan capital investments and refurbishments necessary to meet current and future standards.
o Represent the company in a professional manner consistent with the philosophy and code of conduct set forth for the organization.
o Ensure compliance with all company operating standards and establish plans with the executive directors to maintain high levels of consistent compliance.
o Ensure compliance with state, federal and local regulations and establish plans to minimize and correct survey deficiencies.
o Enforce reporting and corporate compliance hotline initiatives and report all potential hazards, litigious issues or unusual events, to determine plan of action or preventative measures.

• Financial Leadership
o Review, manage and direct corrective actions for regional communities as necessary to pull performance or budget variance back in line with goals and expectations for all levels of living within the assigned region. Responsible for creating and executing effective and accurate community financial forecast reports in partnership with the finance and accounting teams.
o Provide direction to executive director in the preparation of the community’s annual operating budget as directed and in collaboration with the COO and other members of the senior leadership team. Manage annual operating budget, cash flow and overall financial performance.
o Monitor financial, occupancy and operational reports for each community as required. Provide analysis of trends with root cause analysis and responsible for ensuring effective resources and plans are in place allowing communities to meet their long-range goals.
• Health Center Leadership
o In partnership with the director of health care operations, direct and evaluate regional community’s health center strategic business plans that drive revenue growth and exceed quality of care standards.
o Maintain current knowledge and ensure compliance with applicable licensing requirements, laws and regulations for each regional community.
o Support the executive directors and collaborate as necessary for accurate reporting on a routine basis including annual comprehensive process review, quality of care dashboards and work in collaboration with the regional director of health services and the director of health care operations to ensure current and future standards continue to exceed benchmarks.
o Demonstrate and support resident centered initiatives throughout the health center, assisted living and memory care programs to continue history of clinical excellence through empowered and engaged leaders and team members.
o Evaluate all corporate compliance programs and ensures all HIPPA directives are implemented.
o Maintain accountability of each executive director to ensure health center census and financial goals are met by analyzing trends, clinical outcomes, and survey data to continue our history of exceeding quality of care and positive financial outcomes.

• Sales Leadership
o In collaboration with the regional director of sales and marketing and the chief revenue and communications officer ensures executive directors and their respective community sales team have clear expectations for monthly, quarterly and annual sales and occupancy goals.
o Recommend modifications to the regional community’s residency and marketing agreements, marketing policies, pricing and sales discounts, with the support of the local director of sales and marketing, regional director of sales and marketing and the chief revenue and communications officer.
o Work with the executive director to manage and hold the community director of sales accountable for both the annual performance goals and overall occupancy goals for the community. Provides support and guidance to the executive director in ensuring the community sales teams are meeting all sales performance expectations.
• Comply with applicable federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.
• Obtain knowledge and demonstrate the principles of person-directed care and successful aging philosophies and their inherent core values of commitment, respect, compassion, dedication, teamwork and quality. Team member will support, actively participate and act in accordance with the principles of the company culture and be familiar with and fluent in the language and service pillars of the company.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, health care, gerontology, hotel/restaurant management or a closely related area. Master’s degree or an equivalent number of years of experience in a regional role.
• Must meet one of the following qualifications:
o Five years of proven experience in a regional operations leadership role within a multi-site organization within the senior housing industry
o Fifteen years of combined experience as an executive director and administrator within a continuing care retirement community or long-term care senior living environment.
• Licensed or ability to become a licensed health center administrator.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
• Proven experience leading and developing executive leaders.
• Leadership and proven successful experience in mergers and acquisitions
• Familiar with successful mergers and acquisitions.
• Demonstrated skills and knowledge designing and executing strategy and goals for independent living, skilled nursing, assisted living and memory care is highly preferred.
• Strong background and history of success in operational and financial management with proven success creating and executing strategies and plans that will increase overall business performance, census, and overall positive business outcomes is required.
• A broad and comprehensive understanding of federal, state and local laws and guidelines related to the operations and management within a long-term care, or CCRC is highly preferred.
• Ability to work effectively and diplomatically with a variety of audiences; to include residents, resident family members, community groups and organizations, government agencies, peers, direct reports, team members and senior leadership.
• Confidence and success communicating verbally and in writing, with strong presentation skills for audiences at all levels in both small and large groups.
• Success leading strategic projects with positive business outcomes is required.
• Must be bondable and pass required background investigation to confirm eligibility to work with dependent adults.
• A knowledge of and special sensitivity and desire to exceed the needs and lifestyle requirements for seniors while demonstrating a passion for the quality of life, health care and opportunity for a liberating and vibrant lifestyle in each community.
• Excellent computer knowledge and skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office products that include high proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with residents, vendors and team members.
