Senior Living & Healthcare Leadership Opportunity

Oaklake Search has been engaged by a highly regarded not-for-profit senior living provider to identify and appoint a visionary Executive Director for a large, multi-level care community based in Abilene, Texas.

This opportunity is ideally suited to a strategic and operational leader with deep experience in continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs), senior living campuses, or complex hospitality environments. The successful candidate will assume full accountability for operational excellence, fiscal stewardship, team leadership, and resident satisfaction.

The Opportunity
This Executive Director will lead a vibrant, multi-faceted community that includes independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing services. The role requires a high-performing and emotionally intelligent executive who can translate vision into action, create a culture of service, and ensure best-in-class outcomes for residents, families, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
Lead all facets of community operations, ensuring performance in compliance, service delivery, financials, occupancy, and staffing

Develop and manage annual operating budgets; monitor performance and implement strategies to meet revenue, margin, and quality targets

Build and mentor a high-performing leadership team across clinical, operational, and support functions

Serve as the face of the community—engaging regularly with residents, families, referral partners, and the wider regional network

Partner with sales and marketing leadership to develop and execute occupancy strategies and relationship-based outreach initiatives

Champion a proactive risk management culture in partnership with the broader senior leadership and compliance teams

Provide executive reporting to the board and home-office leadership, including operational KPIs, financial forecasts, and resident satisfaction trends

Candidate Profile
We are seeking a candidate who brings a depth of leadership experience and a genuine commitment to senior care:

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred (e.g., Healthcare Administration, Business, Hospitality)

Proven experience as Executive Director or Campus Administrator within a senior living, healthcare, or large-scale hospitality setting

Experience leading within a Life Plan / Entrance Fee community is strongly preferred

Demonstrated ability to manage complex budgets, drive operational efficiencies, and build engaged teams

LNHA licensure preferred (or willingness to obtain)

High emotional intelligence, integrity, and a passion for service-led leadership
